The White Snake
The White Snake is a short story written by the Grimm Brothers. It is a fictional fairy tale with a moral. It is a tale about a servant who eats a magical white snake out of curiosity and gets a superpower that people can only dream of having.
It all starts in a medieval time period inside a majestic castle, the king is having his dinner and he has one kind of food a day in complete secrecy: a white snake! No-one knew about this food besides the king. His most trusted servant brings in the white snake which is under a cover. One day, the servant couldn’t handle his suspicion so he lifted up the cover and took a nibble out of it. He started hearing a noise coming behind the window which seemed quite happy. He slowly looked at the window and he saw 2 birds talking to each other. He exclaimed “what sort of craziness is this!” He heard a scream down stairs and saw that the queen had lost her ring! Read on to find out how the servant marries a princess.
I liked this book because it was very interesting the whole way through and was not very long. It also had technical language like “millet-seed” or “youth”. It had grammatical features such as commas exclamation marks, speech marks etc. This is a great bed time story that young children will adore. While I was reading this, I found a moral which is that if you help someone else then they will help you in the future. I would have liked names for the characters instead of what they are.
The main character of the story is the poor and young servant as well as some of the animals he helped with his new power which is to understand animal language. Some of the animals are three fish or two baby ravens (crows) that were abandoned by their mother. None of the characters besides the servant have a permanent role.
I recommend this fabulous fairy tale to some adults and young children that are older than 2 years because it is aimed at children. You may be able find this book at your local library or on your Smart phone. This book has gotten a like from me even if it is not a new story.
